LOCATION
MSZCZONÓW THERMAL POOLS have a convenient location, as Mszczonów lies between the two largest Polish cities - Warsaw and Łódź (45 km from Warsaw and 90 km from Łódź). The facility is located in the vicinity of the intersection of two roads: Warsaw - Katowice (No. 8) and on the route frequented by TIR lorries (international route No. 50).

HISTORY
Since 2000, the City of Mszczonów has been using thermal waters from a 1602.5 meter deep well for heating and food purposes. The history of Mszczonów thermal water, however, dates back to 1976, when the IG-1 Mszczonów borehole was made for oil. During the research, no oil and gas were found in quantities that would enable their extraction. However, what was found was the water at a temperature of 22 to 24 °C, depending on the depth. Due to the lack of interest in the hot waters at that time, the borehole was liquidated. In 1992, the local government authorities decided to take a closer look at the geothermal hole existing in the city, making the reconstruction of the borehole after 20 years from its completion. During the study of individual geological levels, the occurrence of warm groundwater was discovered at the level of the lower and upper Jurassic as well as at the level of the upper and lower Cretaceous Period. Then the temperature of this water was also determined (from 25◦C to 75◦C). In 2008, the time has come to use the Mszczonów thermal waters also in recreational facilities. The ceremonial opening of the Thermal Pools Complex took place on 28 June 2008.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT
The owner of the Thermal Pools Complex is the Mszczonów Commune. The object was created in 30% from communal funds and 70% from co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund. Currently, the Complex is managed by the Sports and Recreation Center in Mszczonów, which is a budgetary unit.
